AICC Meets The Instituto Cervanters Chicago - May 7.  Bring a friend or colleague to Instituto Cervantes of Chicago – May 7, 2009. Did you know that Lluis de Santàgel (who died in 1498) was a baptized Jew who served as the finance minister to Ferdinand II and was the one who made the case to Isabella I in favor of Christopher Columbus’ voyage in 1492? He was known as America’s First Financier and you can learn about him and much, much more if you join us at the Instituto Cervantes Chicago for a roundtable discussion of "Jews and Conversos in the Discovery of America."

The AICC is a co-sponsor of this event with the AJC and the Alliance of Latinos and Jews. The program is hosted by the Consul General of Spain in Chicago, Ambassador Javier Rupérez (who attended the AICC’s Annual Meeting this year), and Juan Carlos Vidal, the Director of the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet new people from other organizations. It is important that the AICC be strongly represented at this event which, thanks to Instituto Cervantes, has free admission and a reception following the eventRSVP Now!
